DUTCH NATIONAL ANTHEM TRANSLATED IN NGTThe Dutch national anthem is called Het Wilhelmus. Dutch Deaf people have no information about the text or melody of their national anthem. Young deaf children do not learn the song because they do not have access to the music and text. The Dutch Sign Centre has translated two verses in NGT to make this part of Dutch culture also accessible for Deaf people in the Netherlands. The translation was accepted by the Dutch Queen, Beatrix. She appreciated the way in which this translation was made and produced on dvd. Special is the fact that the sign translation follows the music: deaf people will experience in this way the rythm and length of the melody which is so familiar for hearing people.

FIRST NATIONAL STANDARD DICTIONARY DUTCH SIGN LANGUAGE (NGT)The first national NGT dictionary published by Van Dale Publishers was presented on October 8th 2009 to the Minister of Education, Ronald Plasterk.
The dictionary contains 3000 sign illustrations, example sentences and grammatical information, a basic introduction to the grammar of NGT and a general overview of the sign language policy in the Netherlands between 1980 and 2010.
As of january 2010 all sign movies and example sentence movies are accessible in the on-line dictionary via www.gebarencentrum.nl, shop (subscription 1 year 20,00)
The online subscription to the Van Dale NGT dictionary can be used by Apple Mac users.
